We are a micro farm located in Chauvin, Alberta, on the sunny and windswept western Canadian prairies, near the Alberta/Saskatchewan border. Our one acre farm runs along rail road tracks and we are often greeted by the friendly whistling of the trains, announcing their passage. At our farm we mainly focus on growing garlic, however we have much love for all other veggies, flowers and herbs!
Although garlic keeps summer and fall busy, the rest of the season is left to work on expanding the gardens, berry batches, and fruit trees. We focus on growing and preserving as much of our own food as possible, and have found our own backyard to be the ultimate provider. Spring is filled with new beginnings and life, so seed starting and seedling care is a favorite spring activity around here.
Summer of 2024 will bring an exciting expansion and even more new beginnings and life to The Whistlestop Farm. Stay tuned for updates on the opening of our first Farm Stand, in Chauvin, Ab.

Meet our Team. This is Zora. She’s Employee of the Month. Actually, she’s Employee of the Month every month because she’s a very good girl. Not once has she ever tried to dig up or eat the garlic, which makes her a pretty good fit around here. She is also useful as a measuring device to tell if my zucchinis have gone too far.
The rest of the team here at The Whistlestop Farm is pretty much just me with the support of great friends, family and neighbours if I need it. We always do our best and try not to take life too seriously. We remind ourselves that this is how we want to spend our time and energy, and this farm is an investment in our future and dream of a self sufficient life. Thank you for supporting us!
Here at The Whistlestop Farm we keep things as simple as possible. We practice no till farming techniques, and try not to disturb the soil and all of the vital life that occurs there. Healthy soil will resist the effects of our changing climate and benefit our yields in both the short and long term. We choose not to use chemicals on our farm, and we make a commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible farming practices that benefit both the land and the people who consume our produce.
