A garlic scape is the long, curly stem that grows from the top of a garlic bulb. It emerges in late spring or early summer and is usually removed from the plant to encourage the growth of the garlic bulb. Garlic scapes are edible and have a mild garlic flavor, similar to a green onion or chive. Visit our Grow It section for tips on planting, growing and harvesting your garlic with great results.
